Supporting First Nations hiring and long-term career development is about more than recruitment. It’s about building lasting relationships, listening, learning, and investing in people. We believe meaningful opportunities are created by being present, engaging with communities, and working together toward a stronger future.

This year, we were proud to participate in two OIB community events that reflect this commitment. Earlier this year, we attended the OIB Job Fair, connecting with job seekers and sharing career opportunities across The Sutherland Group of Companies. More recently, we joined the OIB Forestry Business Partnerships Day, where community members, students, educators, and industry partners came together to explore careers, exchange knowledge, and discuss future training and employment opportunities.

Our Human Resources and Recruitment team was on site throughout the day, meeting with attendees, answering questions, and discussing career pathways across our companies. At the same time, the Sutherland Group Love Drive Food Trailer served a complimentary barbecue to the community, prepared and served by our owners and founders, Chris and Melanie Sutherland, alongside Chris’s mother Faye, Sutco’s long-time manager Zadoc, and several dedicated team members who generously volunteered their time to help make the day a success.
