Our Volunteers Support Salvation Army Through LoveDrive Initiative in BC
The Sutherland Group launched a volunteer fundraising initiative designed to give everyone across the organization an opportunity to get involved. The leadership team firmly believes that by stepping up, getting engaged and giving our time, we can make a meaningful impact in the communities where we operate.
For 2025, the Salvation Army was one of the organizations we chose to support, as their mission closely aligns with our group’s passion for helping people and communities thrive.
We participated in two events with one in Kelowna and one in Trail where our team prepared, cooked and served meals to individuals in need. In addition to food service, the team assisted with cleanup at both locations and supported the many volunteers at the Salvation Army throughout these volunteer sessions.
Our HR team led the coordination of the events by sending out newsletters to recruit volunteers throughout our organization. They followed up with each volunteer, provided the required paperwork ahead of the event and ensured everyone had the necessary information to participate.
Our volunteers weren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get involved. They worked side by side with Salvation Army staff, doing whatever was needed to support and feed those in need. They also took initiative by identifying additional tasks, including extra cleaning around the facility and even helping to clean vehicles used by the Salvation Army in their efforts.
We were thrilled to have 8 volunteers from our organization for each event.
We will be organizing additional events this fall to support the Salvation Army, as well as our other chosen charity, Mamas for Mamas. More details will be shared as they become available.
